FAQs

What is an Initiative?

Taking initiative means going the extra mile or going above and beyond to make things happen.

Taking initiative means the ability to see something that needs to be done and deciding to do it out of your own free will without someone else telling you to do it.

What best describes how we may help you?

We may mentor you towards your giving initiatives.

What is a Mentor?

A mentor is someone who shares their knowledge, skills and/or experience, to help another to develop and grow.

Mentoring doesnt measure performance, the relationship is driven by the mentee and the exercise is personalised.

How we hope to mentor you towards your giving initiative?

  1. By being open and leading by example,

  2. By talking about giving,

  3. Introducing a whole family approach,

  4. By explaining that you dispose of the value of time,

  5. By guiding you in your search for opportunities,

  6. and by encouraging you through your process towards your moment of impact.

Whats the next step ?

Let's chat ! So we may understand your areas of interest and aspirations and discuss how we can achieve them.

How much time do I need to set aside each week to achieve my goals?

As a mentee, you are expected to lead the mentoring relationship and make sure it keeps progressing.

Your mentor is your guide and helper. You need to be proactive – request their help when you want it and keep them up to date with your progress.

My  experience with Ubuntu Family Initiative has been unforgettable! I have had the opportunity to go through an extensive training, enabling me to get involved with my community in a direct way. It was hard at first to ask for donations but I was immediately surrounded by compassion once I explained our cause: funding for a school in the earthquake affected region of Hatay, Turkey. I was able to collect donations  of 18,000 TL, reaching the school’s goal to purchase a projector and computer for their learning. My happiest moment was  meeting the students we helped. Together with the Ubuntu family we traveled to the earthquake affected city of Hatay and worked directly with Serinyol School that continues their education in makeshift containers. There, we were met with incredible love and enthusiasm by 6th and 7th grade students. I was able to help the students as they created artworks. I still continue to work remotely with the students.

This experience has taught me about mentoring for change and how to create a positive impact in my community. I am grateful to have been part of this program. I hope we offered some comfort and solution

Thank you!
